It is an understatement to say that Victoria Woodhull was controversial, as she did much throughout her life to challenge norms, including running for U.S. President in 1872, when she was not yet 35 and women didn't have the right to vote or many other rights. One might argue that wasn't even her most controversial decision. 

Such, though, is how Victoria lived. Victoria had her principles for freedom, and she lived a life following them while believing in the importance of those rights for all. She would say, "I...declare that my sex are entitled to the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

Yet, as Victoria stirred emotions, her efforts helped lead to social changes.
